Legion Paper Award for Outstanding Recognition—Explore This! 6—I am thrilled to report that my painting of two Red-spotted Admiral butterflies, “Rocks and Minerals” has received the Legion Paper Award for Outstanding Recognition in the Colored Pencil Society of America’s Explore This! 6. This annual, on-line exhibition showcases paintings created with colored pencil in combination with other media. Fifty-five paintings by artists from across the United States were selected by the juror and eleven of the works received awards.
Society of Animal Artists—I am very excited to announce that I have been accepted as an associate member of the Society of Animal Artists. The Society is devoted to promoting excellence in the artistic portrayal of the creatures sharing our planet, and to the education of the public through its informative art seminars, lectures and teaching demonstrations. Founded in 1960, the SAA includes some of the finest animal artists from the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, Japan and Australia.(www.societyofanimalartists.com)
Southeastern Wildlife Expostion—I am pleased to be returning to Charleston, South Carolina to exhibit at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. SEWE is the largest wildlife art and nature event in the nation and hosts foremost experts in wildlife and nature art, as well as conservation research and environmental education. Focus on Nature XI—I am happy to announce that my graphite drawing of two American Toads ("Hector and Killwillie", at right) has been juried into the eleventh bi-annual Focus on Nature exhibit at the New York State Museum in Albany, New York. This natural history illustration and art show will include work by artists from over a dozen countries and runs from April 12 through October 31, 2010.
