Birds
It was a Yellow Warbler that started me on the road to what I’m sure will be a life-long love of birds and birding. That Yellow Warbler sighting was almost twenty-five years ago and it took two-thirds of that time for me to make the connection of seeing, with painting and drawing.
Butterflies
Birds turned me on to Butterflies. Specifically, the hawks of Cape May New Jersey led me to that city's butterfly garden where I found many new butterflies and my first butterfliers. Once found, I was amazed that I had hardly noticed them flitting by in my previous ten years of birding.
Other Wildlife
As much as I like birds and butterflies, I actively search for herps (reptiles and amphibians) and enjoy painting and drawing these animals. Mammals large and small also make it onto my drawing board once in a while.
